Home.
When will the Greyhound Industry ever have a HOME of their own ????
I fully endorse the suggestions of Mr Byrne, the president of the Brisbane Club, that the club needs to have a home away from Albion Park.
The Trots are pushing for the re-development of the Albion Park complex but with the GRA indicating that they are unable to make a decision within the next 18 months, it would appear that we will be stuck at Albion Park for some time yet.
Continuing indecision will reduce the industries chance of obtaining other sources of income to supplement the reducing income from the TAB….and we all know that expenses will not decrease it will be prizemoney that is reduced.
The sooner a decision is made the sooner the Brisbane Club and the industry can look for a new HOME.
Swabbing Policy.
This matter was again discussed during our meeting with the board, however there has been no final decision made as to the submission by the QGBOTA and others.
The QGBOTA acknowledges that the systems and procedures that are in place after a swab is taken are the envy of the other states and racing codes however the taking of the swabs MUST BE CHANGED.
The QGBOTA submitted a response strongly recommending the introduction of Random Swabs to be selected in a public forum…the stewards to continue to have discretionary powers to swab under or over performing greyhounds….this recommended format conforms with the recommendations of the ICAC inquiry into the fraudulent swabbing procedures carried out in NSW.
I would not have thought that this common sense and fair minded approach to swabbing would have been readily accepted by the GRA and Licensees.
QGBOTA President Resigns.
The President of the QGBOTA has been coaxed out of retirement to take up a position of Chief Executive Officer of a National Company and as such will not have the time to devote to the President of the QGBOTA.
I would like to thank everyone that has supported me during my time as President and wish everyone all the best for the future.
