LAWNTON TRIAL TRACK INFORMATION
REPORT ON THE QGBOTA TRIALING TRACK AT LAWNTON
The following report has been submitted by the Track Manager Mr M Stephenson on the activities covering the past 12 months.
At the time of preparing this report the track has a fair number of participants using it.
The facility is in good condition, the maintenance is being looked after so as to minimise any accidents.
The track is returning a reasonable return on the investment. The Committee recently approved a timed sprinkling system to be installed at a cost of $2,600. This is waiting the costing of a solar system to be installed in conjunction with the watering system.
Requests have been received for a timing system to be also installed; the committee will look at this when the installation of the other systems have been completed.
The track manager has invited quotes for the repair and extension of the fences on the perimeter of the grass track. This work will be completed before the end of the year.
In the new year the incoming President will meet with the Moreton Bay Regional Council, requesting permission to extend the existing sand and grass track approx. 50 meters, making it approx. 300 meters long.
I take this opportunity to thank the current committee for its accessibility and its co operation in assisting to make this track a safe and reliable venue for participants to run their greyhounds on.
I look forward to the continued co operation by all parties to keep this track in good working condition for industry participants.

MIKE STEPHENSON

Mike Stephenson has been involved with greyhounds for 30 years.
Currently, he is devoting time and energy to the successful running of the Lawnton Trial Track.
Mike has paid homage to Peter Hines who also had devoted unselfishly 19 years to the running of the Lawnton track.
The QGBOTA pays tribute to these men who provide an excellent facility so that the industry continues to be viable. Their contribution is immeasurable. Too often we take things for granted.
I visited the facility recently and was highly impressed by the excellent planning that Mike has placed into this wonderful site. He has added kennels, organized a shipping container to place his tractor and other items in and has roofed the kennel block with donated sheeting.
There is a very tradesmen look about what has been done. There is even a hosing bay.
The QGBOTA wishes to thank Chris Essex of Big Dog who is very supportive to the industry by donating the concrete on which the kennels and container are built.
Mike advises that young Paul Cauchi provides muscle checks on a Sunday.
Above and beyond the call of duty was evident when Mike went out of his way to assist John and Maureen who are newcomers the industry.
He helped them trial a greyhound at Albion Park. And I can tell you a warm bed is very inviting on these cold winter nights. For certain there will be a most deafening cheer when their greyhound salutes the winning post - from the whole 10 supporters.
